Position Summary
The General Manager will lead the overall operations of a picturesque lodge set in the heart of Montana’s natural beauty. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth day-to-day functions while delivering memorable guest experiences and overseeing sustainable growth. Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee lodge operations, including guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage, and outdoor programming.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and facility maintenance across the property.
- Manage infrastructure improvement projects, renovations, and operational upgrades in collaboration with ownership.
- Develop and maintain vendor contracts, ensuring reliable and cost-effective services and supplies.
Guest Experience
- Curate personalized, unforgettable experiences in line with the lodge’s rustic elegance and nature-focused appeal.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop menus featuring local and seasonal ingredients.
- Design and implement unique recreational activities and events, connecting guests with the region’s outdoor wonders.
- Handle guest feedback and concerns professionally to maintain high satisfaction and repeat visits.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage the lodge’s annual operating budget to optimize profitability.
- Analyze revenue streams, monitor costs, and identify growth opportunities.
- Implement strategies to boost room occupancy, dining revenue, and special events.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and mentor a dedicated team committed to delivering superior hospitality.
- Foster a collaborative and motivated work environment that encourages staff retention and development.
- Create and manage staff schedules, payroll, and performance evaluations.
- Build strong relationships with local and seasonal staff to ensure operational continuity.
Sustainability and Community Engagement
- Implement sustainable and eco-friendly practices to preserve the surrounding environment.
- Partner with local vendors and artisans to showcase regional products.
- Serve as a key community liaison, supporting local events and conservation efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in hospitality, ideally in resorts, lodges, or boutique hotels.
- Strong team leadership and client relationship-building skills.
- Financial management expertise, including budgeting, cost control, and forecasting.
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
- Superior communication and problem-solving skills.
- Appreciation for outdoor recreation and sustainable hospitality.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Knowledge of remote, nature-focused destinations.
- Experience planning outdoor programming (e.g., hiking, water sports, wildlife excursions).
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Experience managing improvement or renovation projects.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $85,000 - $115,000 annually, based on experience.
