POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is the development, management and oversight of parish youth ministry and school campus ministry programs and volunteers including Confirmation preparation.
POSITION SCOPE
This is a full-time, year-round, exempt position. Includes evening and weekend work. .
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for managing youth and campus ministry volunteers.
- Interviews and places new volunteers into youth and campus ministry roles that match their interests and abilities.
- Orients new volunteers to youth ministry by introducing them to policies and procedures (including Safe Environment) that relate to volunteers who work with youth in the Archdiocese of Seattle.
- Trains new volunteers on specific job duties by reviewing job descriptions and sharing expectations for behavior and performance.
- Schedules volunteers for youth services and youth-related special events.
- Responsible for creating youth and campus ministry programming.
- Responsible for creating a youth ministry calendar for both youth group and Confirmation preparation ministries.
- Responsible for creating a campus ministry calendar for the school each semester.
- Responsible for creating a youth group calendar for the summer that includes retreats, conferences, and missions.
- Responsible for the mission focus of youth and campus ministry by organizing and managing service project opportunities.
- Coordinates the youth Confirmation preparation program on an annual basis. This includes scheduling, content, budget, facilitator training, parent involvement, retreats and the liturgy itself.
- Responsible for collaborating with new and existing youth ministry individuals/teams.
- Work closely with administration and teachers to bridge the school and parish ministry to students, parents, staff, and faculty.
- Work closely with Sacred Heart Schools Middle School Religion teacher to bridge the school and parish ministry of students in grades 6th thru 8th grades.

- Work closely with the parents of our parish youth by providing regular communication and family catechesis and soliciting volunteer support.
- Attendance at School Community Events Field Day, Jogathon, Auction, MS Dances and Playmakers. Open invite to all other events. If possible, visit a game for each CYO team. Look to visit parents at events like Bingo Night or Chili Cook-Off.
- Young Adult Group Staff Liaison
- Directs the programs overseen by this position in accord with parish, archdiocesan and universal Church teachings, norms, guidelines, policies and procedures, including planning, promotion, implementation and annual evaluation of program content, materials, methodology, format and networking components.
- Maintains regular communication through appropriate print, online, and social media that keeps constituencies informed of program issues and events.
- Assures the purchase and allocation of all materials and equipment, including books, audio-visual materials, general supplies and all other resources necessary to implement the programs overseen by this position.
- With support from parish administrative staff, oversees the development and maintenance of current, accurate and confidential record-keeping systems for the programs overseen by this position.
- Serves as staff liaison/resource (ex officio member) to the parish commission that is advisory for this program area by assisting with orientation of members, agenda-setting with chairperson, and report/information presentation as needed.
- Assures the appropriate program budget is prepared and submitted on a timely basis and, once approved, authorizes and monitors the expenditures of the budget in a prudent manner.
- Participates in pastoral and general staff meetings on a regular basis including occasional retreats, trainings, and socials. Serves as a resource to the staff, including the school, in matters related to this ministry. Collaborates as appropriate in regional or deanery planning and program efforts.
- Maintains a level of personal spiritual and professional skill growth required for this position by reading and studying appropriate materials; attending archdiocesan workshops, conferences and retreats; participating in approved professional organizations, and keeping up with the latest trends in this ministry.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Experience and skills:
• A faithful Catholic and active member of a parish in good standing with the Church.
• Ability to travel between parishes, to off-site events and to work on evenings and weekends.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• 1-3 years’ experience managing youth ministry, campus ministry, and volunteers.
• Is Archdiocesan “Safe Environment” certified or willing to be certified at their earliest
convenience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Educational Requirement: College degree in related field.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.

Salary : $55,000 - $67,000
