Summary: This position is critical both in ensuring Customers and Craftspersons are delighted working with us and in installing improvements so our vision of being the company Customer, Suppliers, and Craftspersons want to work with can be realized. The ability, desire, and drive are required to ensure the alignment of the production Craftsperson’s efforts and the Customer’s needs.
Role: Lead, plan, organize and control team in satisfying Customers. Two main elements to this effort are first maintaining what is in place and second improving. This requires an ability to drive the desired actions, processes and therefore results. Overall, it will be imperative to institute operational best practices and reduce process variance and costs by driving continuous improvement through Lean activities.
Purpose: The purpose of this position is to provide leadership in pulling together the production teams in accomplishing the task required to satisfy Customers in a safe operation, providing quality parts that meet Customer needs, on-time, in a high morale, positive environment at a price Customers is willing to pay.
Major Duties/ Responsibilities: In support of the role and purpose stated above, the major duties/responsibilities are to maintain the methods that work and improve upon those methods-specific tasks include:
- Leading a team of Craftspersons by-

- Routinely have operator and preventative maintenance done so issues are addressed before they become problems

- Training and development of Craftspersons
- Create and implement documented development plans for each Craftspersons
- Developing and promoting Master Craftspersons
- Ensure prioritization of training and development
- Help develop and document the standard, best way of doing recurring and one-off production and task
- Ensure shipping is effectively and efficiently accomplished
- Ensure effective communications with internal support operations especially Maintenance and Production Control before issues become problems
- Collaborate with scheduling/engineering to plan and support new product launches
- Do what needs to be done to satisfy the Customer especially in shipping well documented, high-quality product
- Recognize, prioritize, and resolve problems especially in anticipating and preventing or mitigating issues
- Eliminate waste including keeping the area clean and organized
- Other task/responsibilities as directed by the General Manager
Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to the General Manager. Direct reports are production personel.
Personal Accountability: Ensure each day, the following is accomplished:

- Doing the detail work, especially control including paperwork, to be confident the big thing – safely satisfying Customers - is achieved.

Qualifications: To attempt to succeed in this position, key success factors include-

- Having held management position of at least 10 people, preferably in a manufacturing environment
