About the Position
The position involves managing a team of educators in supporting college and career goals for students at 5280 High School. As a 0.6 FTE (3 days per week) position, the Counseling Manager will help to track and update students' graduation plans, support teacher leaders in counseling sessions, and meet with at-risk students. Additional responsibilities include scheduling and rescheduling students, supporting concurrent enrollment, managing credit recovery and completing required training with DPS. The Counseling Manager will
work with a team to ensure they have the tools and resources to effectively counsel students toward careers and colleges aligned to their interests.
Key Responsibilities
Managing and tracking college and career counseling sessions
Updating and maintaining graduation plans for all students
Training teacher leaders to hold counseling sessions related grad plans and postsecondary plans (ICAP) and supporting them as needed
Meeting with high priority students at risk of not graduating on time
Scheduling and rescheduling students as new students / graduation needs arise
Manage and monitor credit recovery programming
Engage in necessary trainings
Supporting students and scheduling with Concurrent Enrollment classes
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing counselors
Experience in student course scheduling (Infinite Campus preferred)
Strong understanding of CDE graduation requirements
Proven track record in leading others
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, families, and community partners.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Experience working in an dynamic school or similarly demanding environment.
