Job Summary:
The Payroll/Certified Payroll Specialist will manage all payroll functions, including certified payroll reporting for government contracts, ensuring compliance with prevailing wage laws. This role is vital in maintaining accurate payroll records, timely reporting, and ensuring employees are compensated correctly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing
- Process weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain and update payroll records, including employee deductions, garnishments, and benefits.
- Certified Payroll Compliance
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for government contracts in compliance with prevailing wage laws and regulations.
- Monitor compliance with the Davis-Bacon Act and other state/federal wage laws.
- Recordkeeping & Auditing
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation for audits and inspections.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with labor regulations and payroll standards.
- Employee Support
- Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and wage-related concerns.
- Educate employees on certified payroll processes as needed.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with the HR and Accounting departments to streamline payroll processes.
- Ensure proper documentation and communication with government agencies regarding certified payroll.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience, with a focus on certified payroll processes.
- Skills & Knowledge
- Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, QuickBooks, Axon or similar systems).
- Knowledge of certified payroll laws, the Davis-Bacon Act, DIR, LCPtracker, OCIP and prevailing wage compliance.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Certifications (Preferred)
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent.
