As a Shelter Advocate with A New Leaf Shelter Services, you will provide vital support to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a safe, welcoming environment within the shelter, offering resources and assistance to help residents regain stability and independence. Key duties include crisis intervention, emotional support, guidance on available resources, and helping residents develop individualized safety plans. Hourly Pay Rate: $19.35
Location: Apache Junction
Schedule:
Saturday & Sunday: 8pm-6am, Sunday: 9pm-6am
Required to complete our "New Hire Orientation" held on the first work week of employment, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm; subject to change upon completion of orientation requirements which may grant early release of orientation before Friday; orientation not offered evenings or weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High School or GED required
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
Bilingual verbally in Spanish, preferred.
Experience:
Experience working with domestic violence, homeless or economically disadvantaged population, preferred.
Knowledge of and/or experience with trauma informed practices required.
Knowledge of community resources.
Primary Responsibilities:
Role model appropriate behaviors to callers/clients in the shelter, at all times, utilizing trauma informed principles and practices
Answer crisis calls, properly process, and document calls according to procedure.
Provide crisis intervention, domestic violence information, and resources and referral services to callers/clients at the shelter.
Communicate with hotel/motel and/or transportation agencies for client placement in Emergency Crisis Response (ECR) and convey information appropriately to law enforcement/placing agency as well as to CAAFA Outreach.
Perform screenings, lethality assessments, and basic needs assessments for potential clients according to procedure. Assist with the introduction of program and facility orientation to incoming clients. Assist with client intake/exit paperwork as needed
Provide supportive services to clients in shelter and assist case managers with client needs.
Establish/maintain client files and documentation; including, requesting paperwork, and filing all documentation in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner.
Complete accurate documentation in database and all program paperwork in a timely, correct, and thorough manner.
Be responsible for issues relating to admission and discharge, in conjunction with the programs definition and policies as relevant to program/client needs.
Access community resources to support the coordination of services for clients.

Be able to lift a minimum of 30lbs
Must be able to obtain Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card immediately upon hire (if there are any uncertainties whether an applicant may have to go through an appeal process; they are encouraged to complete that process prior to applying as an invalid card will result in termination of employment)
