A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN INTAKE COORDINATOR/SCHEDULER
As an Intake Coordinator, you play an integral role in ensuring the face-to-face process is completed within the required time frame. Your complete documentation from referral to the start of care for Hospice referrals. Upon referral, you will follow up with the physician's office to obtain all documentation, process referrals, discharge instructions and medications. You ensure that all records are kept confidential and appropriately protected or locked according to state and federal guidelines. In addition, you will work with the billing department to release claims held for face-to-face and do appropriate follow-up as needed for any missing documentation for held claims. At times, you may assist in other medical office duties when we are short-staffed, including answering phones and distributing mail. You also serve as a backup scheduler and help enter referrals when needed. Always reliable and punctual, you arrive to work each day ready to tackle any tasks that come your way. This position with our hospice office, you play an essential role in scheduling patient visits. Working alongside other managers and members of staff, you coordinate the schedule while keeping the needs of patients a top priority. You handle the responsibilities for our on-call rotation and maintain tracking according to our policies. For the well-being of our patients, you ensure that they are not seen by multiple individuals from the same discipline if possible and promptly inform management if any type of visit cannot be performed by the RN case manager.
In addition, you run daily and weekly reports as requested and notify management of any issues that arise. Always punctual and reliable, you maintain regular attendance and accomplish any tasks that come your way. You assist other office staff as needed to ensure the operations of our agency always run smoothly. At times, you assist with orientation for new nurses and participate in training activities, so you are able to continuously evolve in your position. You love having a job where you serve in such an important role to keep our office in order, which is why you thrive in this scheduling position!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN INTAKE COORDINATOR/SCHEDULER
- Associate degree in a related health or financial field
- Preferred LPN
- 2 years of experience working with medical records or in healthcare billing
- Knowledge about Word, Excel, and email
- Highly organized and great phone & communication skills
