Direct Support Professional assists individuals who have developmental and or intellectual disabilities with daily living activities at home or in the community. Their duties may include helping individuals with hygiene, making beds, doing laundry, preparing and providing meals. A & T Health Care, Inc. is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our team! DSPs will provide supports and assist with the daily care of individuals, providing skill building supports and transportation as necessary.
Work Attendance: 100% In person.
Monday through Friday: 11:am-6:pm
Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals with daily living activities
- Submit NOTE REPORTS via Therap.com at the end of each shift.
- Communicate ongoing care results and updates to relevant parties
- Collaborate with clients and families for best care opportunities
- Maintain a healthy and comfortable living environment
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a DSP or working with individuals with Developmental and Intellectual disabilities.
- Compassionate and caring demeanor
- Ability to build rapport with the individual who is receiving support.
- One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience in the caregiving, training, habilitation, and support of children or adults with a diagnosis of developmental/intellectual disability.
Certification / License:
- TOVA
- First Aid
- CPR
- Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
- High school diploma
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of some of the characteristics and concepts of Developmental and intellectual Disability, mental health, health disorders and related physical conditions and treatment approaches for children.
- Knowledge of simple care, first-aid, behavior management, personal and environmental hygiene.
- Ability to implement and follow the policies and procedures of A & T Health Care, Inc.
- Ability to provide basic care, personal care, and hygiene.
- Ability to teach clients eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, and other self-care skills.
- Ability to participate with professional staff in the design and implementation of training and programmatic activities.
- Ability to observe the rights and personal dignity of others.
- Ability to observe, record, and report individual’s behavior, attitude, and physical condition.
- Ability to perform simple math and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with individuals, their family and office staff. Experience: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience in the care, training, habilitation, and support of children or adults with a primary diagnosis of developmental/intellectual disability and/or secondary diagnosis of mental health.
