Job Summary:
The Home Care Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the delivery of care services to clients in their homes. This role ensures that high-quality care is provided by supervising a team of home care aides, ensuring adherence to care plans, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations and company policies. The supervisor works closely with clients, their families, to ensure the well-being and safety of clients while fostering a positive and compassionate caregiving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervision & Staff Management:
- Supervise and manage a team of home care aides, personal care assistants, and/or other direct care staff.
- Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations for staff to ensure high-quality care is delivered.
- Schedule and assign tasks based on client needs, staff availability, and workload.
- Monitor the performance of care aides to ensure compliance with policies, care plans, and safety protocols.
2. Client Care & Service Delivery:
- Assess client needs and ensure personalized care plans are developed and followed.
- Monitor the implementation of care plans, adjusting as necessary to meet client needs.
- Communicate regularly with clients and their families to evaluate satisfaction and address concerns.
- Respond to client emergencies and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain records of care provided, progress, and changes in clients' condition.
3. Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure that all services meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and ethical guidelines.
- Conduct regular home visits to observe care delivery and identify any potential improvements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing home care services.
- Ensure that proper documentation is maintained for each client’s care plan and services.
- Ensure all services adhere to the regulations established by the Illinois Department on Aging and other relevant bodies.
4. Collaboration & Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, families, and the home care team.
- Facilitate regular meetings with staff to discuss challenges, provide feedback, and foster a supportive work environment.
5. Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain accurate records for client care and staff performance.
- Assist in the recruitment and onboarding process for new care aides.
- Manage inventory of supplies and ensure caregivers are equipped with necessary tools and equipment.
- Prepare reports for senior management regarding the status of client care, staff performance, and compliance audits.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in business operations related to in-home services.
- Prior experience in a supervisory role within the home care industry.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Community Care Program (CCP) services, including working with the Illinois Department on Aging, DHS, and Illinois MCOs.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with a proven ability to manage and guide a team.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
- Strong problem-solving skills, coupled with keen attention to detail.
