We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in various settings, including group homes, retirement homes, and home community care. This role is vital in delivering direct support to clients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide medication administration as prescribed and ensure adherence to medication schedules.
- Support clients in mobility and physical activities; assist with lifting when necessary.
- Engage clients in meaningful conversation and activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Monitor client health and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by adhering to hygiene standards and protocols.
- Document care provided and maintain accurate records of client progress and needs.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop personalized care plans tailored to individual client requirements.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in group home settings, retirement homes, or direct support roles is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices and memory care techniques is a plus.
- Ability to lift clients safely and assist with mobility as needed.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others live comfortably and independently.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is advantageous but not required at the time of hiring; training may be provided.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if necessary.
