Position Description
The Director of Admissions and Recruitment at The Valley College of Osteopathic Medicine (The Valley COM) plays a critical role in managing all aspects of admissions processes for prospective students seeking education in osteopathic medicine. This position collaborates closely with the Associate Dean, Student Services to achieve enrollment goals, implement effective recruitment strategies, and ensure a seamless application experience for applicants.
Specific/Key Responsibilities
Mission Driven:
Ensure all recruitment and admissions strategies align with the College’s mission, vision, and values.
Promote the College’s osteopathic education philosophy and the unique opportunities that The Valley COM offers, emphasizing patient-centered care, holistic education, and community involvement.
Leadership And Advisory
Lead and mentor the Admissions team, ensuring clear guidance, professional growth, and strong performance across all recruitment and admissions functions.
Serve as a key advisor to the Associate Dean for Student Services and other senior leaders regarding admissions and recruitment strategies and outcomes.
Represent the College at local, regional, and national recruitment events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
Provide insight and recommendations on policy changes or improvements within the
admissions processes.
Evaluation/Assessment
Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and admission processes through data analysis and feedback.
Develop and implement systems for continuous assessment of admissions and recruitment outcomes, ensuring alignment with enrollment goals.
Analyze trends in applicant pools and academic performance to refine recruitment strategies and ensure a high-quality student body.
Professional Development
Stay current on best practices and emerging trends in medical school admissions, osteopathic education, and enrollment management.
Participate in professional development opportunities and encourage staff growth to enhance the effectiveness and success of the admissions team.
Student Support Services & Mentorship
Serve as a point of contact and provide guidance to prospective students and their families, answering questions and providing insight into the admissions process and life at The Valley COM.
Oversee the recruitment of students, providing mentorship and support from application through enrollment.
Work with student ambassadors and volunteers to ensure prospective students have a welcoming and supportive experience throughout the recruitment and admissions process.
Collaboration
Collaborate with all COM departments to ensure cohesive and strategic recruitment efforts.
Foster strong relationships with external institutions and organizations, including feeder schools, healthcare partners, and community organizations, to enhance recruitment and develop clinical training opportunities for students.
Research & Innovation
Lead efforts to utilize cutting-edge recruitment strategies, including digital marketing, virtual events, and innovative outreach activities to attract top-tier applicants.
Explore opportunities for research collaborations to promote the College’s educational programs and clinical offerings.
Accreditation, Quality And Compliance
Ensure that all admissions processes and procedures comply with The Valley COM’s accreditation standards and other applicable regulatory bodies.
Stay informed of changes in policies and regulations within the medical education landscape to ensure the College’s adherence to accreditation guidelines.
Strategic Planning And Development
Develop and implement long-term recruitment and admissions strategies to meet enrollment goals in alignment with the College’s overall strategic plan.
Work with senior leadership to identify and pursue new opportunities for recruitment growth and improve operational efficiency in admissions.
Finance & Administration
Manage the budget for recruitment and admissions-related activities, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Oversee expenditures related to recruitment events, marketing efforts, and administrative costs associated with the admissions process.
Ensure the effective allocation of resources across recruitment and admissions functions to meet departmental and College goals.
General
Develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment strategy in collaboration with the
Office of Student Services, aligning with the College’s enrollment goals.
Coordinate communications with prospective students, ensuring the consistent messaging of The Valley COM’s offerings and values.
Supervise and manage recruitment events, campus tours, and on-campus interview days to provide a seamless, welcoming, and informative experience for prospective students.
Oversee the admissions process and manage the CRM system to ensure accurate tracking of applications and timely communication with applicants.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and committees to ensure the thorough and effective review of applications, maintaining adherence to COM policies and procedures.
Organize and manage Interview Day experiences, ensuring smooth coordination with faculty, volunteers, and admissions staff.
Develop and plan retention activities to celebrate and engage accepted students.

Qualification(s)
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in admissions, recruitment, or related roles within higher education or healthcare education.
Strong understanding of admissions processes, CRM systems, and data analytics.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing effective recruitment strategies.
Experience in supervising and mentoring staff.
