Staff Accountant

Position Objective:

To assist with general and cost accounting procedures to accurately report financial information and analyze cost trends / variances in a timely manner.  Reconcile assigned monthly balance sheet accounts.

Performance Standards

Planning

• Work with Accounting Manager to assist with preparation of annual operating budget by established deadlines.
• Assist in completion of forecasts as required.
• Provide adequate information in support of the Integrated Business Process (IBP).
• Assist with monthly budget variance explanations.

Reporting

• Provide accurate financial information for and assist in the completion of month end package, forecasts and other plant operating reports completed within established deadlines.
• Partner with Accounting Manager, Supply Chain Manager and AP to track changes in raw material cost which include substrates through packaging material.
• Maintain daily, weekly and monthly yield results for all finished goods.
• Contribute to staff meetings with updates on budget performance, KPIs and capital expenditures.
• Assist the Accounting Manager in preparing and analyzing monthly close outs (accruals, budget settlements, monthly reports, etc.).
• Assist production personnel with daily and monthly reporting

Analysis

• Assist with providing balance sheet account analysis on a monthly basis.
• Participate and assist with cost savings analysis.

Control/Compliance

• Perform financial and administrative functions in accordance with group policy and accounting standards.
• Provide documentation to satisfy audit activities.
• Assist with monitoring and reporting on variances on all finished goods as well as updating and maintaining all direct material cost components.
• Assist in maintaining the bill of materials for all SKU’s through the process flow.
• Assist in reviewing all work in process, raw material, ingredients and packaging, labor and overhead costs each month prior to the monthly close.

Financial Services

• Update and maintain CIP projects and reconcile to GL. 
• Maintain Accounts Payable function according to procedures and guidelines provided by Corporate Office.
• Assist Accounting Manager with inventory through cycle count process.
• Perform Inventory adjustments as needed to maintain lot control and tracking.

Customer Service

• Respond to internal inquiries within one day or an established mutually agreed deadline.

Human Resources

• Comply with HR policies and procedures.
• Comply with relevant employment laws.

Other

• Other duties as assigned.

A COMBINATION OF THE LISTED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE IS PREFERRED

• Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• One to three years accounting experience.
• Strong PC, word processing and spreadsheet skills (MS Access, MS Excel, Word, Power Point).
• Good communication skills.
• ERP knowledge and experience.
• Two to three years of cost accounting experience with a good understanding of manufacturing.
• Experience in A/P, A/R, Inventory and Journal Entry.

Working Conditions

• Normal office and plant working environment.

Other Factors

• Occasional travel will be required.
• Occasional overtime will be required.
