Description
SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing all general ledger functions, reconciliations, and county contracts.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Responsible for monthly and annual accounting close and financial statement preparation.
- Ensure proper maintenance and integrity of accounting records and reporting.
- Assure balance sheet accounts are reconciled on an ongoing basis.
- Create and post journal entries.
- Maintain effective internal controls to prevent misstatements, detect and correct misstatements on a timely basis and safeguard organization assets.
- Responsible for county contracts/grants billing and tracking.
- Participate in annual audit process.
- Ensure accounting processes, internal controls and financial reporting comply with federal and state awards and contracts.
- Coordinate onsite program processes such as medication inventory, petty cash, change bags, site funds and purchasing cards.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor degree in accounting or finance.
- At least 5 years’ experience in relevant accounting experience.

- Knowledge of applicable accounting methods, standards and practices including GAAP and Uniform Guidance.
- Knowledge of federal grant compliance requirements preferred.
- Excellent computer skills. Microsoft Office applications, especially, Excel and Word.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to operate a personal computer for extended periods of time, including reading from a computer monitor, keyboarding, and using a mouse.
- Ability to work in a shared office space with limited privacy.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Consistent attendance and punctuality are required of this position.
- A negative result on all pre-employment, reasonable basis, and post-accident drug screens.
- An acceptable criminal record as determined by DHS, the Oregon Administrative Rules, and the Oregon Revised Statutes; and no current supervised parole or probation.
