Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives:
The EHS department focuses on the health, safety, and wellness of onsite personnel. The EHS department plays a key role in ensuring that the site complies with all Environmental regulations and requirements. The EHS department is also responsible for overseeing the Security functions of the site.
The EHS Technician will assist with the following:
- Environmental and EHS training, programs, auditing, reporting, projects, and monitoring.
- Assists in the direction and co-ordination of the plant's environmental, health, safety and security management programs.
- Provide a safe and healthy work place for employees.
Protect the company's property and the environment within company and regulatory guidelines
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Maintain computer databases for the site's EHS Procedures and EHS SharePoint Site.
- Financial tracking - monitor department budget to meet Plant and department financial targets
- Monthly budget review with Plant Controller and staff; assist vendors, troubleshoot issues and resolve.
- Process Purchase Orders, budget annual blanket purchase orders, office supplies
- Invoices - process, trouble shoot issues, assist vendors. Work closing with Corporate A/P
- Tracks completion of monthly Oversees site's Behavior Based Safety Program observations.
- Updates site's LOTO procedures, updates LOTO lock database, creates locks for LOTO authorized team members.
- Assists with all EHS orientation and training to insure regulatory compliance.
- Gathers and organizes data for reports such as the Monthly HAPs/ VOCs Emissions Report, Hazardous Waste Data, and Utility Data.
- Ensures that site and Corporate Safety Data Sheet database is updated.
- Works with site management to ensure compliance with Corporate Global EHS Standards.
- Assists with audits, assessments, surveys, etc. of the various Environmental, Health and Safety programs such as: Guarding Survey, Fall Protection Survey, Corporate EHS Audit, etc.
- Assist in maintaining the action management system for near misses, first aids, property damage, and incidents beyond first aid.
- Collect and file all permits and JHA's submitted to the EHS department.
- Performs daily plant tours of the site to ensure OSHA compliance.
- Provides timely feedback to the internal customer or Environmental concerns or safety issues brought up by internal customers.
- Order safety and office supplies for the plant when needed.
- Attend trainings for EPA and OSHA for personal development.
- Provides general administrative support to other area departments including Human Resources and Finance.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education:
Two to three years' experience within Abbott or in the EHS field. Two-year degree in EHS, Business, Science, Technical or related field is preferred.
