We are seeking an experienced, hands on detail-oriented Controller to manage the organization's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with all relevant regulations. This role will also include oversight of human resources functions, making it a critical position in supporting JoyDew's mission, sustainability and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
Oversee and manage all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable / receivable, general ledger, payroll, insurance and grants.
Prepare and monitor the organization's annual budget, working closely with leadership to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
Provide accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
Provides information for the board of directors' meetings and prepares all presentations for the board with the CEO.
Creates and maintains financial models in excel for expansion efforts.
Banking and Cash Flow Management
Manage banking relationships, ensuring smooth transaction processing and optimized cash flow.
Monitor and forecast cash flow to maintain the financial health of the organization.
Audit and Tax Compliance
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, working with external auditors and ensuring timely and accurate filings.
Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, including preparation and filing of the annual 1099's. Review the annual 990 prepared by the audit firm and other required forms as needed.
Human Resources Oversight
Manage HR functions, including payroll administration, employee benefits, recruitment, and compliance with labor laws.
Maintain personnel records and oversee onboarding, offboarding, and employee development processes.
Policies and Internal Controls
Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and improve efficiency.
Update and enforce financial policies and procedures to align with best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and IRS regulations for 501(c)(3) organizations.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks), payroll systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience managing audits and tax filings for nonprofit organizations.
Familiarity with HR practices, including payroll and benefits administration.

Compensation : $75,000-$80,000 annually, depending on experience.
