Abode, one of the largest and effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist for our programs in Alameda County.
About The Role: The Accounts Payable position ensures the accurate and timely processing of disbursements, either through checks or electronic means, in an efficient, timely, and accurate manner. This position will be responsible for processing invoices using Intacct and Wells Fargo’s Purchase Card. This position will engage with multiple business partners and requires the ability to support and balance changing needs and priorities.

How You Make An Impact:
- Assist in maintaining accounting records as required per company policy and required for GAAP and control purposes (documentation, approvals, etc.)
- Work closely with other departments and external customers to resolve billing related issues, including balance disputes and delinquencies, while exceeding client service expectations.
- Sync POs into accounting system and process payments.
- Obtain proper approval of invoices per Company's policies and procedures (Maintain AP Approval Matrix)
- Enter, code, and pay non-PO vendor invoices with the appropriate GL account and department information.
- Prepare monthly check run for rent check assistance.
- Initiate payment runs including ACH and Checks
- Upload Positive Pay information daily.
- Collect new vendor W-9s and administration of year-end 1099’s reporting and filing.
- Review monthly AP aging reports.
- Assist in ad hoc projects as required by management.
- Other duties as assigned.
How You Meet Qualifications:
- Associate degree in accounting, finance, or business administration or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience doing full cycle accounts payable.
Competencies:
- Excellent verbal & written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with teams.
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of applicable accounts payable / general ledger systems and procedures, and chart of accounts.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, and data analysis skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, systems, and platforms.
- Ability to learn and use required mobile devices and business-related applications.
- Outstanding communication skills and high degree of emotional intelligence, cultural humility, with a proven track record to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.
