General Responsibilities
The STAR Summer School Program Data Coordinator works under the supervision of the Summer School Coordinator and is responsible for managing and analyzing student data to support the effective operation of the summer school program. This role ensures accurate data collection, reporting, and compliance with program requirements. The Data Coordinator collaborates with summer school teachers to design data-informed lesson plans that meet the needs of students. Additionally, the Data Coordinator collects and analyzes data from assigned summer school sites to complete reports for all stakeholders, including principals, community members, parents, the school board, and the VA Department of Education. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proficient in data management systems, and capable of working collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and staff to enhance student outcomes.
Essential Tasks:
- Organize pre- and post-testing sessions for summer school students, ensuring all students participate in these assessments.
- Collect, organize, and report student performance on pre- and post-assessments.

- Collect, organize, and maintain accurate student enrollment, attendance, and performance data.
- Monitor and update student records in the school district’s data management system.
- Generate reports to track student progress, program effectiveness, and compliance with district and state regulations.
- Work closely with the RCPS technology department, RCPS accountability department, administrators, and teachers to ensure data integrity and resolve discrepancies.
- Support the registration process by verifying student eligibility and enrollment status.
- Assist with scheduling and placement of students based on academic needs indicated by data and program requirements.
- Provide training and support to staff on data entry, analysis, and management procedures.
- Ensure timely submission of required reports to school leadership and external stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of student information in compliance with FERPA and other applicable regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comply with school and school board policies and regulations.
- Experience working with student data systems, databases, or school management software.
- Demonstrate exemplary understanding of data analysis and the use of data to design personalized lesson plans to meet individual student needs.
- Work cooperatively with all staff.
- Relate positively to parents and other community representatives.
- Function as a member of summer school teams and attend meetings as appropriate to the role.
- Conduct staff development for the needs of the summer program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Summer School Coordinator and Executive Director of Literacy, Academics, and Targeted School Improvement.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and reporting.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, data management, information systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience working in a school or educational program, particularly in summer school settings.
- Familiarity with student information systems such as Synergy.
- Experience analyzing educational data to inform decision-making and lesson design.
- Knowledge of state and district policies regarding summer school programs.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to data management systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Occasional operation of automated computer office equipment is required. Attendance at meetings outside normal duty hours is sometimes required. Regular involvement with principals and teachers throughout the School Division. Usually, there is a need to motivate, establish rapport, gain support, or persuade or influence individuals or groups. Occasional debate is often characteristic of the contact and may require considerable skill in diplomacy, tact, and discretion. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Duties are typically performed in school settings, including classrooms, gyms, cafeterias, auditoriums, and recreational areas. Primarily controlled temperature and clean classroom environment.
