English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher

Full-time, 10- month positions
Overview
The ELL teacher is responsible to help ELL students increase their English language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening by providing specific instruction to meet their individual needs. The teacher will also conduct testing, keep accurate records, work cooperatively with their grade-level teams in a French immersion program. All teachers are responsible for managing behavior and maintaining a positive classroom climate.
Status of Position
This is a full-time position with Académie Lafayette. This is an exempt position pursuant to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Reporting
The ELL Teacher reports to their campus/building principal.
Responsibilities
- Testing students with the W-APT and ACCESS tests in conjunction with WIDA
- Maintaining yearly certification for administering the appropriate WIDA assessments
- Delivering appropriate minutes of ELL instruction as determined by the individual ELL plan for the particular students (this includes push-in and pull-out services)
- Working with classroom teachers as it relates to ELL students and services
- Ensuring all paperwork is appropriately documented for reviews by SLU, our Charter Sponsor
- Tracking ELL student’s progress as well as the progress of ELL students on monitor status
- Works as a professional - meeting all deadlines and participating in faculty meetings at the relevant schools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Hold or be eligible for Missouri Teaching Certificate, preferably in ELL
- Proven experience as a teacher; international candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills necessary for working in a multicultural environment
- The ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and to meet deadlines
- Ability to integrate technology into the classroom
Other Requirements
- Must pass a state and federal background check through MACHS.
- Must be registered with the Family Care Safety Registry
