What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pathways Navigator position at AccessAbility Inc.?
Job Summary:
We are seeking a team member to be a Pathway Navigator and join our "CAN DO IT" atmosphere, accept people where they are at, and focus on individual ABILITY while providing opportunities to reach individual goals. The Pathway Navigator will be responsible for developing and guiding those who qualify for services through an Individualized Employment Plan (IEP). The Navigator will coordinate with various social services and resources that include employment/training/reentry/ housing/mentoring and other wrap around services to help participants achieve stability and self-sufficiency.
Job Responsibilities: (Not an all-inclusive list)
- Provide assistance to program participants in locating, obtaining, and retaining employment
-Work with the community and employers to develop work opportunities for the participants
-Develop personalized plans and assist individuals in setting goals that include earning, learning and support services
- Work with various providers to plan for reentry to include work release staff, probation, parole, social workers and other team members
- Connect participants with appropriate services such as addiction counseling, behavioral health, social work, Section 8 housing assistance, crisis management, and workforce development programs
- Provide ongoing support and advocacy for participants by working with employers to place people, address training needs or concerns and provide follow up to ensure work plans are implemented, individual goals are being met, and IEP's are up to date
-Manage cases in Workforce One database system for tracking of activities, case noting and other outcomes necessary for service provision
- Schedule and conduct 1:1 meeting to monitor progress and adjust plans as needed
Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be considered
Education/Experience:
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, law enforcement or social sciences field with at least 6 months experience providing workforce development and case management services to those with justice impacted backgrounds or two or more years' experience working with people transitioning from jail to community in correctional facility operations, reentry programs or other nonprofit workforce development programs
-Knowledge of information and advocacy of federal legislation and workforce development initiatives that directly impacts harder to employ populations
- Knowledge of local job market and concerns of employers along with an understanding of the barriers faced by individuals with judicial impacted backgrounds
-Experience with pre-employment activities and job search development
- Previous experience in social services or case management preferred
- Strong understanding of community resources and services
-Computer literacy in use of MS Office Suite including word processing, email, internet and spreadsheets
-Strong analytical and decision-making ability. Must be able to work with minimal supervision
-Ability to solve problems, meet multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines as a self -starter
- Ability to provide compassionate and empathetic approach to participant interactions that result in successful outcomes
-Ability to communicate with a variety of personality types at all levels of the organization, as well as with individuals outside the organization in a positive manner
-Be punctual, maintain good attendance and be able to work flexible hours to meet the availability of the program participants
-Must have access to reliable transportation. Current valid driver's license and insurance with a driving record that demonstrates safe, legal driving habits
