What are the responsibilities and job description for the Insurance Customer Service Intern position at Accuity?
Acuity is seeking an Insurance Customer Service Intern to answer incoming after hour Acuity telephone calls, enter new losses, follow escalation criteria, and page handlers when appropriate. This role will also provide backup for various units including Billing, Imaging, Policy Assembly, Mail Room, and Switchboard. This role will work day-time hours while training in the summer. Once training is complete, to supplement Service Claims, this role will include working from 5 : 00 pm to 10 : 00 pm CST Monday through Friday throughout the school year. Weekends and Holidays are optional if additional hours are desired.
Start Date : Summer 2025, will continue remotely throughout the school year!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Answers incoming calls and handles them appropriately. This includes entering new losses, processing policy payments, and routing switchboard calls.
- Inputs Automobile, Property, and General Liability losses received via mail, email, phone, or fax into the Claims System.
- Indexes claims and commercial lines documents.
- Assists with tasks in the units noted above and special projects as assigned.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION :
Currently enrolled in college, pursuing a four-year degree. Eligible candidates must be rising sophomores and juniors with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2027 to be considered.
EXPERIENCE :
Prior customer service experience required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS :
This position is classified as non-exempt.
The hourly range for this position is $16.00 / hour. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
