What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Protection Engineer position at ACS Group?
Role and Responsibilities
- Be able to provide analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking abilities for fire protection engineering services under the direction of a P.E. or an experienced consultant.
Fire Protection Engineering Services would include:
· Life safety code consulting
· Sprinkler design
· Fire alarm design
· Performance-based fire engineering design
Duties include:
1. Good communication skills with clients and other staff members and be a self-starter with problem solving and reasoning skills.
2. Completing assigned tasks in a timely manner and within the allotted budget and document assigned work (i.e., basic building code analyses, egress analyses, fire detection and alarm systems reviews, smoke control system reviews, basic sprinkler and water supply systems reviews including hydraulic calculations).
3. Have knowledge of fire suppression and safety systems.
4. Able to develop plans, inspection reports, and specifications as required and ensure the items are complete and accurate in accordance with good professional service practice standards.
5. Be able to perform basic calculations (i.e., size required means of egress, maximum allowable building area, sprinkler system water supplies and smoke control equipment).
6. Be able to research and identify applicable codes and standards.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or technical training; or equivalent combination of education and work experience. EIT preferred.
Preferred Skills
· Demonstrate knowledge of engineering principles or construction technology and practices
· Apply advanced mathematical concepts to determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factory analysis.
