Job Title: Architectural Designer
Job Description
Individuals in this position work under the direction and supervision of other project team members, from concept design to construction administration, emphasizing their fundamental knowledge of the design and construction process, detailing and documentation standards, building materials, technologies, and systems. Individuals in this position are working to produce accurate and high-quality design and construction documentation for different clients and typologies and further their experience in architecture. Through professional development initiatives, individuals holding this position will participate in design development, begin to establish technical expertise, collaborate with staff and consultants, solve problems, engage in quality control, and focus on continuing to develop subject matter expertise. Individuals in this position assist the project team throughout all design stages. Individuals in this position rely heavily on guidance and assistance from senior-level staff to accomplish their duties as they grow their knowledge base and establish subject matter expertise.
Responsibilities
- Work under the direction and supervision of other project team members.
- Produce accurate and high-quality design and construction documentation.
- Participate in design development and establish technical expertise.
- Collaborate with staff and consultants to solve problems and engage in quality control.
- Assist the project team throughout all design stages.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe software.
- Experience with construction documentation, schematic design, and design development for civic, municipality, and commercial projects.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Exposure to building codes, general architectural systems and assemblies.
- Exposure to mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, data/IT/AV design.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
- Strong abilities with Photoshop, InDesign, and SketchUp.
- Exposure to sustainable design.
- Understanding of the concepts of design, including proportion, scale, texture, context, materiality, and maintaining quality design.
- Exposure to consultant engineering concepts.
Work Environment
Hybrid working environment. Depending on which Principal/Project Manager you are supporting, you may be required to be in the office if it is supporting a particular government client/entity. Flexibility is offered, but there are scenarios where presence in the office is necessary. To start, you will be required in the office every day for at least the first month to work with your supervisor. The office is located right off I-95 in White Marsh and offers free parking. It is a brand-new office space with a hybrid schedule.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $33.65/hr.
