ActUp Theater is hiring a Production Manager to play a central role in the management of the production Once on this Island, led by ActUp Theater. The Production Manager will be responsible for the planning, outreach, and day-to-day management of the production. Duties include leading program staff and delegating tasks to achieve the goals of the production and ensuring the safety of the production participants. Additional duties include monitoring production budgets, managing communication between the cast, parents, and staff, and overseeing outreach duties to engage with the local community! This exciting position will be an asset to ActUp Theater!
Responsibilities
- Project manage ActUp Theater’s production, Once on this Island
- Work independently to accomplish tasks, take initiative to plan in advance, and work well with others to execute a successful program timeline
- Responsible for a demanding schedule, organizing and scheduling meetings and the administration on in-person rehearsals
- Advise staff on the planning, implementation, and communication of all timeline deliverables, and schedules
- Liaise between parents and stakeholders to ensure they are aware of any deliverables, payments, or production priorities
- Carry out clerical duties, including preparing supplemental materials for staff & participants
- Timely attendance to all rehearsals
- Excellent ability to analyze, organize, problem solve, and communicate, both orally and written
- Have strong interpersonal skills, to include ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with students, faculty members, parents, staff and administrators
- Have sensitivity to the needs and concerns of participants from diverse backgrounds
- Organized and working knowledge of the virtual platforms such as Zoom and Google Suite with excellent computer skills
- Have a passion for the arts and ensuring the cast has a great experience
- Attend and host all staff meetings for production staff
- Additional assignments at a supervisor's request
Management
- Manage the production planning of Once on this Island
- Work independently and take the initiative to plan and execute a successful production timeline
- Possess strong business knowledge and ability to think in a variety of business environments
- Exercise exceptional time management skills and be able to meet deadlines
Leadership
- Lead weekly staff meetings with Directors, Teachers, Interns, and staff
- Supervise other staff and interns and delegate responsibilities
- Liaise between leadership team and parents and adults
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize a demanding schedule and a diverse portfolio of responsibilities
Outreach
- Execute promotion plan for Auditions and Masterclass
- Oversee the outreach plan for the production of Once on this Island
- Encourage cast, parents, and staff to promote program advertisements, volunteer opportunities, and sell tickets
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the arts, both as a performer or/and manager a plus
- Demonstrate creative ability in theater production development
- Experience with project management
- Ability to convene safe spaces that increase empathy and understanding
- Experience with and understanding of activities, programs, and productions of ActUp Theater
- Familiarity with student-initiated arts activities and programs
