ActUp Theater is seeking a Stage Manager to play a central role in managing and supporting the work of ActUp Theater’s production of Once on this Island. The Stage Manager will be responsible for supporting and organizing all the different teams involved in the day-to-day running of the production; from rehearsals through post-show. Duties include leading stage staff and delegating tasks to achieve the goals of the production and ensure the safety of the production participants. Additional duties include setting the rehearsal schedule, maintaining correspondence with all stage employees to ensure props, lighting, wardrobe, and all other aspects of the production are running accordingly, corresponding with the Production Manager for additional duties.
Responsibilities
- 1-2 years of theater management and production planning experience
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to plan and execute a successful program timeline
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize a demanding schedule and a diverse portfolio of responsibilities
- Attendance to practice as outline and agreed upon by ActUp Theater Leadership
- Attend All Tech Week practices, rehearsals, and performances
- Creativity in advising staff on the planning and implementation of stage activities
- Excellent analytical, organization, problem solving, and communication skills, both orally and in writing
- Strong interpersonal skills as well as a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with students, faculty members, parents, and administrators
- Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of participants from diverse backgrounds
- Availability and flexibility to work in order to ensure proper oversight of auditions & the production
- Manage data in spreadsheets and keep records and reports up to date
- Organize and schedule meetings and rehearsals
- Enforce any rules and regulations necessary to clear the area of unnecessary people
- Make sure the theater is operating within current health and safety regulations to ensure a safe and tidy environment
- Keep abreast of advances in technologies and techniques in the industry
- Supervise other staff and delegate responsibilities
- Experience ensuring that theatrical performances run smoothly and to schedule.
- Ability to organize all practical and technical aspects of rehearsals and shows and ensure that performers and crew are in the right place at the right time.
- Experience in prop-management and acquisition
- Experience in the arts, both as a performer or/and manager a plus
- Demonstrated creative ability in theater production development
- Experience with establishing new programs and/or initiatives and scheduling
- Familiarity with student-initiated arts activities and programs
- Working knowledge of the virtual platforms such as Zoom, with excellent computer skills
- Experience with and understanding of activities, programs, and productions of ActUp Theater
- Convene safe spaces that increase empathy and understanding
- Communicate with the team for all needs to accomplish the assigned task
- Attend all staff meetings
- Additional assignments at a supervisor's request

Show Dates: May 15th - May 18th

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
