Basic Function: The Development Manager will focus on researching, writing, and administering public, private, and corporate grants. In collaboration with the Senior Director of Development, this role will also develop and manage the annual fund, workplace giving campaigns, and recurring donor programs. Also, the Development Manager will help craft and update fundraising messaging for proposals, appeals, and other communications.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

 

Grant Research, Writing, and Administration

  • Identify and research potential grant opportunities from public, private, and corporate sources.
  • Write and submit compelling grant proposals and applications.
  • Manage the grant administration process, including tracking deadlines, reporting requirements, and ensuring compliance with grant guidelines.
  • Maintain detailed records of grant activity and provide regular updates to the Senior Director of Development.

Annual Fund and Donor Management

  • Develop and implement strategies for the annual fund, including planning and executing fundraising campaigns.
  • Manage workplace giving campaigns, coordinating with corporate partners and employees.
  • Cultivate and grow a base of recurring donors through targeted outreach and engagement efforts.
  • Monitor and analyze donor data to inform fundraising strategies and improve donor retention.

Fundraising Messaging and Proposal Writing

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Development to write and update fundraising messaging for proposals, donor communications, and marketing materials.
  • Ensure consistency and alignment of messaging across all fundraising efforts.
  • Tailor communications to different audiences, highlighting the impact and importance of Ada S. McKinley's work.

Donor Stewardship and Relations

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with donors, providing regular updates and impact reports.
  • Plan and execute donor appreciation events and activities.
  • Implement stewardship plans to ensure donors feel valued and engaged.

Professional Development

  • Stay updated on best practices and trends in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations.
  • Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities.

.Specifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required or 10 to 15 years in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or resource development.
  • 2 years of Donor Management and Research funding experience
  • 3 years of Supervisory Experience
  • 3 years of Proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor management software (e.g., Salesforce).

Mental/Physical Demands:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The supervisor must be able to effectively establish a positive unit milieu consisting of positive communications with all levels of personnel and clients as well as fostering a team approach. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to interpret a variety of written and oral instructions, clearly speak and hear, use hands and fingers, walk, drive, and sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Conditions:

 The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Duties are performed in a typical office environment in addition to community locations including client residences, housing developments, schools, hospitals locations as well as some virtual settings.
