Position: Assistant Athletic Director

 

Reports to: Director of Athletics

 

Supervises: Coaches as assigned by Director of Athletics

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  2. Hold or be eligible for Oklahoma teaching certificate preferred.
  3. Previous experience with overseeing athletic programs preferred.
  4. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal: The Assistant Director of Athletics will be responsible for, but not limited to, the day-to-day duties of overseeing the Athletic Department, coaches and all sports programs affiliated with Jenks Public Schools as assigned by the Athletic Director. They will comply with Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activity Association and Jenks Public Schools Board Policy.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: The Assistant Director of Athletics is responsible for assisting the Athletic Director in the following:

  1. Establish and implement an improvement process for areas of responsibilities.
  2. Establish and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholder groups.
  3. Evaluate personnel under his/her supervision.
  4. Schedule athletic events and use of athletic facilities.
  5. Secure transportation for all away contests.
  6. Secure officials for all home contests.
  7. Determine the needs and maintenance of existing facilities and complete appropriate requests to meet these needs.
  8. Assist in the purchase and maintenance of equipment.
  9. Coordinate contest management.
  10. Assist in developing an athletic budget with the Director of Athletics.
  11. Establish good hospitality for visiting schools.
  12. Secure appropriate security needs for events.
  13. Maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  14. Be accessible to staff, students and parents regarding athletics.
  15. Maintain a positive attitude among administration, coaching staff and faculty.
  16. Submit reports with accuracy and promptness.
  17. Exhibit ability to properly observe and evaluate coaches.
  18. Attend conferences, seminars, workshops, clinics at local, regional, state and national levels.
  19. Maintain and upgrade professional skills by involvement in the following: staff development, reading professional articles, advanced degrees, research and professional organizations.
  20. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Employment Terms: Twelve (12) months a year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. Benefits as established by Board policy.

 

FLSA Qualification: Exempt

 

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on Staff Evaluation (2.20/certified).

Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds.

 

Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. 

 

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
