Adult Education, part-time High School Equivalency (HSE) instructor
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The duties include, but are not limited, to the following:
Responsibilities:
- Teach 2 HSE evening classes in-person: Higher level Math (7-12GLE) and Lower level Reading/Writing (3-5 GLE)
- Plan lessons, assess student progress, and support students as they pursue basic foundational and higher level skills
- Refer students to the College/Career Advisor for goal setting and next steps
- Collaborate with lead HSE teachers on curriculum development and implementation
- Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and Professional Development
- Manage attendance and student information on a shared digital platform
- Promote and incorporate digital literacy into teaching
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required
- At least 3 years of successful teaching experience in any discipline
- Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse adult population
- An understanding of performance standards and effective teaching practices which support the MA College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (CCRSAE)
- Ability to interpret, implement, model and support research-based instructional practices that enhance student performance
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience using Zoom and Google Suite - Drive, Docs, Classroom, Jamboard, etc.
Reports to: Director of Adult Education
Effective Date of Employment: January 2025
Terms of employment: Hours not to exceed 18 per week, no benefits, Grant-funded
Compensation: $45/hour
