Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activity Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our facility, particularly those in memory care and long-term care settings. The Activity Assitant will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being among residents. The ideal candidate will have a background in social work, senior care, or related fields and possess excellent communication skills to effectively engage with residents and their families.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activity program tailored to the needs and interests of residents, including those with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Schedule and coordinate daily activities, ensuring a variety of options that cater to different abilities and preferences.
- Foster a supportive environment by encouraging resident participation and facilitating social interactions among peers.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to assess residents' needs and adapt activities accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continuously improve the activity program.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding upcoming events and individual resident needs.
- Organize special events, outings, and celebrations that enhance community engagement within the facility.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in social work, senior care, nursing home settings, or related fields is preferred.
- Knowledge of memory care practices and dementia care strategies is highly desirable.
- Strong schedule management skills to efficiently plan activities while accommodating resident needs.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team focused on providing high-quality care.
