What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activity Assistant position at Glenwood Health Center by Harborview?
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and implementing engaging activities for residents in a senior living community
- Provide support and assistance to residents with their daily activities, including ADLs (Activities of Daily Living)
- Create a positive and stimulating environment for residents to enhance their overall well-being
- Collaborate with the activities director and other staff members to develop and execute activity programs
- Engage residents in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities to promote socialization and cognitive stimulation
- Maintain documentation of resident participation and progress in activity programs
Experience:
- Previous experience working with seniors in a memory care, nursing home, or assisted living setting
- Knowledge of aging issues and ability to provide counseling and support to residents
- Familiarity with dementia care techniques and strategies
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members
- Ability to plan and organize events and activities that cater to the needs and interests of seniors
- Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with individuals who may have physical or cognitive limitations
