Benefits :Position Overview : The Project Accountant - Cost Analyst will be responsible for performing accounting tasks related to Time and Material (T&M) report validation for construction projects. This position involves ensuring that all project-related costs are accurately tracked, recorded, and reported. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project managers, field teams, and other departments to maintain financial accuracy and provide detailed insights into project cost performance.
Key Responsibilities :
- Validate and review Time and Material (T&M) reports for construction projects to ensure accuracy and compliance with project contracts and budgets.
- Monitor and track project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment, ensuring that all transactions are properly documented and coded.
- Collaborate with project managers to understand cost structures and ensure proper financial controls are in place.
- Prepare and maintain detailed project cost reports, including budget-to-actual analysis, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Review subcontractor invoices, ensuring that costs align with contract terms and project budgets.
- Assist in the preparation of project financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the project management team with financial analysis, including identifying potential cost overruns or savings opportunities.
- Coordinate with the accounts payable team to ensure timely processing of invoices related to project costs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulations related to project cost management.
- Assist with project audits and ensure accurate documentation for audit trails.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in project accounting or cost analysis, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and construction cost management practices.
- Familiarity with Time and Material (T&M) reporting and financial reporting for construction projects.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with project management software is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with construction contracts and procurement processes.
- Knowledge of project budgeting, cost estimation, and financial forecasting techniques.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification is a plus.
