Description:
Onsite Role - 3 days a week minimum
The general purpose of the Sr. Contract Manager, role is to assess, analyze, draft, review,
negotiate and finalize highly complex contracts for client so that such
departments and their respective representatives may procure services and/ or collaborate
with external parties efficiently and effectively and in compliance with all laws, regulations
and policies that govern the conduct of clients activities. Work impacts the
organization broadly, and is performed independently without appreciable guidance.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for Sr. Contract Manager include:
Conduct compliant, thorough and appropriate assessment, analysis, drafting, review,
and negotiation of highly complex contractual documents.
Negotiate the best contract terms possible for clients, taking into consideration
risk exposure and risk tolerance of the requesting department and within Clients
guidelines.
Possesses a level of authority to make legal decisions during contract negotiation
beyond adherence to playbook language. Has minimal reliance on legal group.
Advise and influence stakeholders and leadership on contractual and
business terms, and process efficiencies.
Partners with stakeholder groups to assess future needs; foresee and implement
changes to internal processes (e.g. legal, templates, DOA/playbooks).
Proactively lead process improvements or other special projects that impact
ability to achieve its scientific goals when collaborating externally; independently
determining methods and procedures on new assignments.
Work collaboratively, effectively and efficiently with all internal and external partners
and stakeholders.
Act as a resource within the group, train other Contract Professionals on
group/departmental processes, negotiation strategies, templates and playbooks.
May also supervise.
Exerts influence within department on the development of overall objectives and
long-range goals.
Deliver effective presentations to stakeholder groups and leadership that
build understanding of contract purpose and process in addition to providing
information on areas of concern and/or needed attention.
Maintain records of executed contracts and respond to audit requests.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
BS/BA in Business, Legal or related discipline, or equivalent education plus
experience.
Greater than 10 years experience in contract management, and/or comparable role
as appropriate for position. Minimum 7 years with JD or PhD
Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage ever-changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High degree of customer focus and proven ability to build and maintain effective
internal and external partnerships.
Team player with demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build
effective working relationships throughout all levels of the organization.
