Job Description:
Advantage Steel and Construction, an AISC-certified fabrication shop specializing in structural steel bridge rehabilitation, is seeking a Production Control Manager to oversee material procurement, detailing coordination, and production scheduling. This role is critical in ensuring efficient workflow from project inception to fabrication handoff.
Procurement & Coordination:
- Source and procure structural steel and other necessary materials.
- Coordinate procurement of detailing services and manage external detailers.
- Ensure all materials and detailing align with project specifications and AISC standards.
Production Planning & Tekla PowerFab Utilization:
- Utilize Tekla PowerFab to develop cut sheets, nesting, and CNC programs.
- Generate and distribute work orders and job packets for the fabrication team.
- Maintain and update the production schedule within Tekla PowerFab to optimize shop efficiency and align with Customer delivery schedules.
- Track material certifications and associated heat numbers to maintain compliance and traceability
- Understand contract specific specifications and special provisions and ensure that all materials and sources of supply conform to these requirements
Handoff & Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Fabrication Shop Manager to transition projects into production.
- Communicate job details and timelines to shop personnel to ensure smooth execution.
- Monitor project progress and adjust schedules as needed to meet deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5 years of experience in steel fabrication, production control, or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of AISC standards and fabrication workflows.
- Proficiency in Tekla PowerFab for material tracking, nesting, and scheduling is a plus.
- Experience with CNC programming and steel processing equipment is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Hands-on role with direct impact on project success and shop efficiency.
SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION
This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a federal contractor.
