Location: AdventHealth Hendersonville
The role you’ll contribute: Responsible for the appropriate coding and abstracting of diagnosis and procedures using ICD-9-CM/ ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes. Obtains and reviews documentation for compliance and to ensure documentation supports the medical necessity for charges and codes that are submitted for proper reimbursement.
The value you’ll bring to the team
- Review and assign appropriate ICD-9-CM/ ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes to medical records for all outpatient coding types which include labs, radiology, emergency room, recurring encounters and same-day surgery.
- Abstract patient information accurately into computer.
- Assume other departmental responsibilities as requested.
- Maintains or exceeds accuracy and productivity standards per AdventHealth policy
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- High school diploma or the equivalent required.
- Must be able to pass an entry level coding test.
- Completed Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology and Specialized Coding Classes or equivalency in experience required.
- RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC or other equivalent credential through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) preferred but not required. If not credentialed, must be eligible to sit for a credential within 12 months of employment.
