Purchasing Inventory Manager
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Purchasing/Inventory Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our purchasing and inventory management processes. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and developing effective vendor relationships.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Purchasing:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet company objectives and ensure cost-effective purchasing practices.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish terms and conditions to maximize value and minimize risks.
- Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and product availability.
- Collaborate with various departments to determine their purchasing needs and create purchase orders accordingly.
- Monitor and track orders, ensuring timely delivery and resolving any issues that may arise.
Inventory Management:
- Develop and implement inventory management strategies to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing carrying costs.
- Analyze demand patterns and forecast inventory requirements to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
- Implement inventory control procedures, such as regular cycle counts, stock rotation, and monitoring expiration dates.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage returns, rejections, and defective products.
- Utilize inventory management software systems to track stock levels, generate reports, and identify areas for improvement.
Vendor Management:
- Cultivate strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts to secure favorable agreements.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and service levels, and address any issues proactively.
- Conduct periodic supplier audits to ensure compliance with company standards and ethical practices.
- Collaborate with vendors to resolve product or delivery issues and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Stay updated on market trends and industry developments to identify potential new suppliers and foster competitive bidding.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience in purchasing and inventory management roles, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in inventory management software systems and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements related to purchasing and inventory management.
