Job Description

We currently have an opening for a Safety Coordinator in our Vancouver Office. This position will give you the opportunity to provide leadership and administrative support to promote and manage our HSE program. You will work alongside staff to monitor and track our safety activities and ensure our safety program is successful. The Safety Coordinator will also ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal acts and regulations.

Responsibilities will include:
• Providing consultation to ensure employee compliance with our HSE program, policies, safe work practices, safe work procedures, and codes of practice.
• Conducting workplace inspections to verify compliance with WorkSafe BC, HSE policies and procedures and best practices.
• Responsible for the implementing a comprehensive and coordinated HSE program and associated awareness and training strategy at AE.
• Serving as a member of our Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
• Liaising with our Corporate Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, and other operations Safety Coordinators.
• Developing a program for the identification, evaluation, control, and monitoring of safety hazards in the workplace.
• Ensuring that suitable personal protective equipment and other safety equipment is available and maintained in good condition.  This will include management of equipment assets available to the employees.
• Developing and implementing a process to determine what work sites are active and which employees are on site at any given time.
• Updating safety bulletins throughout the offices, conducting safety meetings, and sending safety emails on a regular basis.
• Conducting new employee safety training and ensuring that all employees receive appropriate ongoing support and safety training.
• Updating the Safety Manual annually and conducting internal safety inspections for each office.
• Auditing policies for compliance and ensuring that an ongoing system of inspections and audits are carried out.
• Conducting accident and incident investigations and identifying methods to prevent reoccurrences.
• Establishing internal and external accident reporting systems, maintaining statistics, and establishing a recording system for all safety activities.
• Ensuring all safety documentation is completed to maintain our COR certification, including conducting internal COR audits.
• Obtaining/maintaining First Aid Level 2
• Conducting other related duties as directed to support the implementation of HSE objectives.

Job Requirements

• Knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations, policies, guidelines, and standards.
• 2 years of relevant experience.
• CRSP/ CRST or NCSO/ NHSA designations considered an asset.
• Previous COR experience considered an asset.
• First-Aid Level 2 is an asset.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks.
• Superior attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (experience in MS forms and Sharepoint an asset).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organization, observation, and documentation skills.
• Committed team player as well as the ability to work independently.
• Ability to promote and foster a culture of health and safety.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to travel within BC, YK, and NWT.

The salary range for this position is $65,000.00 to $90,000.00, and is commensurate with experience relative to this position.

Salary : $65,000 - $90,000
