JOB SUMMARY
The Leafguard Safety Coordinator assists in the implementation and performance of Leafguard’s Safety Management System and processes to ensure a safe, injury and incident-free work environment. The Safety Coordinator will support the Environmental Health and Safety department in the Western U.S. region, ensuring that all practices are compliant with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
· Visit production and jobsite areas on a regular basis to establish EHS presence and provide support
· Establish and maintain good working relationships with field management
· Ensure company policies and procedures are understood and implemented consistently
· Develop and lead weekly safety topics
· Provide monthly Safety KPIs to branches under the position’s purview, using safety software, as part of an employee recognition program
· Administrative functions include but are not limited to:
o Completion of paperwork associated with safety inspections, incident investigations, employee training, safety orientations, et al.
· Conduct comprehensive Jobsite Safety Audits and Branch Safety Audits and document unsafe conditions and behaviors; ensure corrective measures are immediately implemented or follow through to ensure corrections have been made according to company, industry and regulatory safety and health standards.
· Educate production employees through coaching and correcting
· Develop and delivers health and safety training programs and using software and other media
· Coordinate and support safety committees
· Assist in maintaining safety files and records
· Actively look for ways to identify safer processes and reduce losses
· Communicate and reinforce the Company vision, values and goals
· Research safety topics
· Assist Regional Safety Manager and EHS Director as needed
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
· Associate or bachelor’s degree specializing in Occupational Safety or equivalent 3-5 years of work experience with sole safety responsibilities.
· Basic knowledge of construction safety work rules and relevant OSHA requirements and regulations including, OSHA Part 1910 and 1926 Safety requirements, NEC, NFPA and ANSI standards for construction.
· Basic understanding of state Workers Compensation laws and reporting requirements.
· Critical for success is the ability to work independently and strong attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present training and other information and respond to questions from workers, managers, clients, customers, and the public.
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS
· Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
· Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and scaffolds as required to perform inspections.
· Must be able to work outdoors in various and sometimes extreme weather conditions.
· Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
· OSHA Outreach Trainer certification preferred.
· Experience developing Job Hazard Analyses, Site-specific safety plans, Incident Investigations, etc.
· Must have experience in teaching Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Ladder Safety, Electrical Safety, etc.
· Must have a current Driver’s License
· Must have Proof of Insurance
COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to use Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) with little or no difficulty.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
