Job Purpose
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the design, development and applications engineering aspects of AESSEAL products, as well as direct the performance of the design and technical support staff within AESSEAL Inc. The Engineering Manager will oversee specific projects and project management taking inquiries from their initial feed stage through to completion of an order, satisfying both external and internal customer needs including all specifications and documentation requirements. The Engineering Manager will interact as needed with OEM project suppliers and provide guidance to the engineering & sales staff on key projects, the initial quotation, and all specifications and documentation. Key project management from initial enquiry through to site commissioning. The role is based in Rockford TN in an open office where teamwork is emphasized. As such regular attendance in the office is an essential function of the role
Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
- Confer with management in both the US & UK, production, and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
- Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment as it relates to design matters & engineering.
- Direct, review and approve product design and engineering changes – following AESSEAL global design & engineering departmental policies.
- Recruit employees with the help of Human Resources Department; assign, direct and evaluate the work of design & engineering staff.
- Oversee the training & development of design & engineering staff.
- Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the design & engineering work performed in the department.
- Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving payroll & expenditures, enforcing local & group policies.
- Provide annual CAPEX and salary review information to management
- Present and explain proposals, report and discuss findings with customers.
- Project Management to include, but not be limited to:
- Mechanical seal and system quotations.
- Assisting the sales team with pricing and strategy to win key orders.
- Interacting with the pump OEM & sales team on key projects for the supply of mechanical seals and systems.
- Project kick off meetings and ongoing progress meetings.
- Tracking seal and system order management through the SAP & Teamcenter business systems.
- Write equipment checks / IOM procedures & documentation for commissioning and completion of the project.
- Maintain documentation library and specification library both physical and electronic.
- Supporting the sales team by reviewing customer specifications to ensure AESSEAL can meet the requirements and/or taking exception(s) as necessary.
- Providing technical support and recommendations for mechanical seals and systems, including application assessment, making seal & system selection.
Single spring support is generally dimensional checks or product equivalency and bearing protection in the US is supported by a separate team.
- Continually work with the customer & sales team via telephone, email, Teams calls etc to support their needs.
- Understand seal failure analysis to a level of competence and to write reports and discuss on conference calls with customers as needed.
- Oversee the training of the internal technical team and external sales team to ensure compliance with the Seal Inspection Report standard & keep the data UTD for Q-PULSE records.
- Demonstrate a full understanding of the functionality of the AESSEAL software and databases.

Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Engineering degree from an accredited University required or equivalent work experience.
- Previous experience of pumps or rotating equipment.
- Knowledge of mechanical seals and seal support systems (ANSI & API).
- Proven engineering/rotating equipment understanding.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal – ability to speak to a single person or group of people e.g. during customer visits or sales conferences.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team
