Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to join our finance team. This role is pivotal in managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of accounting principles and a commitment to accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and examine financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Manage general ledger accounts and perform month-end and year-end close processes.
- Handle accounts payable and receivable, including invoice management and payment processing.
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and forecasts for management.
- Assist with budgeting and financial planning processes.
- Ensure timely filing of taxes and manage audits.
- Collaborate with other departments to support financial operations and decision-making.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices to maintain compliance.
- Payroll Processing: Oversee and manage the entire payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely salary payments, tax withholdings, and deductions.
- Compliance & Regulations: Ensure payroll practices comply with local, state, and federal laws, including tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and reporting requirements.
- System Management: Manage payroll software and systems, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with IT or vendors for updates and optimizations.
- Documentation & Audits: Maintain detailed payroll records, prepare reports, and assist with internal and external audits.
- Employee Relations: Address employee payroll inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and provide guidance on pay-related policies.
- Team Leadership: Supervise payroll staff, providing training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess payroll processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Reporting: Prepare and present payroll summaries, cost analyses, and budget forecasts to management.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an accountant or in a similar financial role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Xero).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday).
- AP and AR experience
- In-depth knowledge of payroll laws and best practices.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong leadership and partner communication abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required); CPA or relevant certification is a plus.
