The QE Lab Test Technician will setup and perform testing on fiber optic cables, accessories, and connectivity/apparatus products. The testing will include mechanical, environmental, and optical performance testing to industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Setup testing in accordance with industry standards
- Perform testing in accordance with established test procedures
- Record test results in test documentation and perform additional data analysis where required
- Report results and any observations to co-workers, managers, and engineering as required
- Work on multiple product lines and have flexibility in work schedule and test diversity
- Participate on continuous improvements teams to achieve the highest level of test efficiency
- Interact with and support for the engineering staff as required
- Obtain at least 2 QE Lab certifications (options include environmental testing, mechanical testing – OCA, mechanical testing – Cable, optical testing – cable, optical testing – OCA, WDM testing, and materials testing)
- Complete FO123 basic fiber optic training course
- Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL

Qualifications
- Previous work background in fiber optics is ideal, along with any type of technical background
- Fiber optic testing experience is preferred
- Fiber splicing experience is preferred
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

- This position requires good manual dexterity, good vision and the ability to stay seated for long periods of time
