JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Student and Family Coordinator, Nita M. Lowey 21st CCLC
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associate degree or higher or equivalent work experience and experience working with at-risk families.
2. Experience working with people, especially volunteers, and in a school and/or non-profit community center.
3. Ability to work independently and establish an ambitious work schedule, identify clients, manage active caseload of students and families, document services provided, and demonstrate accountability and progress with caseload.
4. Must successfully complete background check, physical examination, and complete training in Child Abuse prevention, CPR, First Aid, Communicable Diseases, ODJFS Child Care Orientation and problem solving facilitation and conflict management and other requirements of ODJFS.
5. Experience and competence in a variety of support-group settings such as individual student and/or adult, and small groups. Proficient management and presentation skills with small and large groups.
6. Ability to separate personal value system bias from those of clients.
7. Ability to facilitate adult/child individual and/or group problem solving and conflict management training.
REPORTS: Executive Director (or Site Administrator) and Board of Directors of the Afterschool Programs of Lancaster.
JOB GOAL: To coordinate and implement day-to-day parent connections, assist with recruitment and registration for programs, make contacts and links to support services, solve conflicts, identify needs, improve relationships and cooperation with assigned school and develop parent services programming for the After School Programs Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Open and close and maintain security of the center if assigned.
- Maintain Ohio Professional Registry account through OCCRRA in accordance with ODJFS and Step-up to Quality rules and regulations.
- Assist with the solicitation of volunteers for the programs sponsored by the Afterschool Programs of Lancaster (APL).
- Schedule and assist with required staff trainings and the completion background checks as assigned.
- Develop, arrange, and document a day-to-day schedule of parent support services for the Center/School.
- Identify student/family needs through referrals, observations, and interagency collaborations and networking.
- Increase parental involvement in school activities and assume responsibility for parent activities at the APL by establishing a positive rapport through small group activities, Family Night, etc.
- Provide and document positive intervention in cases of persistent student/family truancy and behavior problems.
- Develop, implement, participate, and assume responsibility for the APL program activities as appropriate.
- Solicit support and work collaboratively with social service agencies from within the community that improve the quality of life for targeted families as well as others of the assigned school community.
- Provide direction to other social service providers and/or volunteers as assigned.
- Report cases of suspected child abuse and neglect to the proper agency.
- Develop, maintain, and provide timely reports and records to the Executive Director of the APL and 21st Century Program Administrators as requested. Complete monthly and annual year-end reports of services provided.
- Work cooperatively and in collaboration with the principal, staff, parents, and students of assigned school to enlighten them of parent support services and encourage them to make use of services as directed by the APL Executive Director.
- Be thoroughly familiar with the local, state, and federal requirements and regulations for parent support work.
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Executive Director.
ANNUAL WORK SCHEDULE: Approx. 200 days within a fiscal year (July 1-June 30) or equivalent. 11 AM to 6 PM. This is a .5 FTE position.
