What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Caretaker position at Aggieland Safari?
Aggieland Safari in Bryan, TX is looking for a part-time Zookeeper to join our team. We are located on 18075 FM 974. Our ideal candidate is focused, hardworking, and compassionate.
This position is to assist in our 1) Adventure Zoo (walkthrough) exhibits, which consist of small carnivores, hoof stock, birds, and reptiles and our 2) Drive Through Safari with a variety of large hoof stock. Our Park has an accumulative animal collection of over 700 animals on over 250 acres.
Experience required:
High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
One or more years in a progressive animal care role at a zoological facility. Volunteer experience may substitute.
Experience preferred:
Proven experience in animal care operations to include giraffes, hoof stock, primates, avian and reptile species.
Experience with record keeping practices with ZIMS (or similar) program.
Sound veterinary practices with an emphasis on animal safety and comprehensive wellbeing.
Knowledge of animal training and behavior.
Current CPR/FA Certification or ability to obtain.

Eligible applicants must have open availability and understand that they are expected to work most weekends and holidays. Aggieland Safari is open every day from 9AM-6PM, except Thanksgiving and Christmas day. This position’s schedule will be either Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday. Eligible applicants should also be able to work in all weather conditions, as our facility consists of mostly outdoor exhibits and be able to lift to 50 pounds regularly.
Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $11.00 - $13.00/hour.
