Job Summary:
AGM Transport Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shop Foreman to oversee the daily operations of our maintenance shop. The Shop Foreman will be responsible for supervising mechanics, scheduling repairs, ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance standards, and optimizing workflow to maintain fleet reliability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of company trucks and trailers, ensuring all work is completed efficiently and in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Assign tasks to mechanics and technicians, monitoring their performance and providing guidance as needed.
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed to minimize downtime and prevent costly repairs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines, braking systems, and other vehicle components.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts inventory, and service history using fleet management software.
- Coordinate with the Operations and Safety departments to prioritize urgent repairs and inspections.
- Ensure all shop equipment is properly maintained and in safe working condition.
- Train and mentor mechanics, promoting skill development and adherence to company standards.
- Enforce workplace safety protocols, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company regulations.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to source parts and manage repair costs efficiently.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in truck and trailer maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications in diesel mechanics or fleet maintenance preferred.
- Certifications: ASE Certification and CDL preferred but not required.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and braking systems.
- Skills: Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficiency in diagnostic tools and fleet management software.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.
