- Summer Camp is scheduled to run from June 9th - August 1st, 2025. During camp weeks, position will be full time. Start date ahead of camp season and end date following the conclusion of camp are negotiable. Ideally, candidate would be able to start part-time as soon as possible to manage registrations, plan programming, hire staff etc.
Job Summary (Essential Functions)
Plan, manage, and execute children's summer camp program, including hiring and training staff, overseeing daily operations, ensuring camper safety, developing and overseeing activities, managing budgets, and maintaining a positive camp environment for both campers and staff.
Education and / or Experience
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Development, or comparable field.2 years related work experience in childcare, recreation or other child- or youth-related field in a related setting.Experience in educational program development and implementation.Current CPR CertificationJob Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with members, their children, club staff and management.Manage summer programs and events for members’ children and their guests.Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.Job Tasks / Duties
Recruit, hire, and train all camp staff including counselors, activity leaders, and specialists.Assign staff to appropriate roles and supervise their performance throughout the camp season.Design and implement a comprehensive camp curriculum that aligns with camper ages and interests.Create daily schedules and activity plans, including special events and themed days.Coordinate with department heads to ensure smooth operation of various camp activities (e.g., swimming, tennis).Oversee daily camp operations, including camper check-in / check-out, meal times, and transitions between activities.Manage camp logistics like transportation, equipment maintenance, and facility usage.Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and emergency procedures.Develop and manage the camp budget, including staff salaries, supplies, and program costs.Monitor expenses and make necessary adjustments to stay within budget.Maintain open communication with parents, addressing concerns and providing updates on camper progress.Manage camper registration process and maintain accurate camper records.Work with Communications Manager to promote camp programs and attract new campers.Ensures that all promotional materials are current.Interacts with other departments to promote youth programs.Attends staff meetings.Performs other appropriate tasks as assigned by the Social Activities Manager, Director of Operations, or General Manager.Requirements :
Strong ability to lead and motivate a team, delegate tasks, and make effective decisions.Excellent verbal and written communication to interact with staff, campers, and parents.Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.Understanding of child development stages and appropriate activities for different age groups.Commitment to maintaining a safe camp environment and implementing safety protocols.Ability to work primarily outdoors in a summer camp setting, with long hours during the camp season.
