AI Fire: Payroll Specialist
Description:
The Payroll Specialist will assist in executing the payroll function end to end, ensuring payroll is processed on-time, accurately and in compliance with government regulations. The role is actively & directly involved in all aspects of payroll processes and includes high volume payroll processing.
Responsibilities:
- Processes payroll, with a high volume of weekly adjustments, including time imports and prevailing wage calculations and payouts.
- Weekly payroll review, and reconciliation.
- Prepare pay cycle, monthly and quarterly compensation reports.
- Reconcile weekly and semi-monthly payroll tax liabilities, compensation earnings and deductions (401k, HSA, garnishments, etc.)
- Ensure that payroll data for new employees is properly recorded including name, address, rate of pay, and withholding information.
- Coordinate with finance and HR on funding and payments to various benefit providers and carriers.
- Post summary payroll and withholding data to the appropriate general ledger(s).
- Generate payroll data reports for various audits (worker’s compensation, internal/external audits, and finance/accounting).
- Partner with Benefits Manager or Specialist to reconcile applicable payroll deductions
- Ceridian Dayforce Experience
- Payroll certification (FPD, CPP, etc.)
- Certification in Great Plains
- Experience in service or project industry
- Minimum 2 years Payroll processing experience
- Experience working with integrated payroll systems (i.e., Ultipro/UKG, Workday, ADP, Dayforce, Paylocity, etc.)
- Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload
- Proven proficiency in MS Office applications; strong Excel preferred
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload with control, accuracy, and efficiency
- Excellent attention to detail, sound judgment, and independent decision making
- Professional conduct, excellent written and verbal communication skills required with all areas of the organization.
- Ability to provide helpful, courteous, accessible, responsive, and knowledgeable support to staff, customers, and others at all times.
- Successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment background screening is required. MVR checks are required for all driving positions.
