Position: Payroll Specialist
Location: Lone Tree, CO
We are proud to partner with a consulting firm in Lone Tree for a Payroll Specialist to join their payroll division. The Payroll Specialist is tasked with ensuring the precise and prompt execution of all payroll functions for multiple companies. This role involves verifying timesheet accuracy, calculating pay adjustments, and processing payrolls across multiple states. The specialist must have a thorough understanding of payroll policies, government regulations, and tax requirements to ensure compliance and accuracy in payroll administration.
This is a direct hire opportunity paying $70,000 annually.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the payroll process to ensure checks are issued in line with corporate policies and procedures.
- Manage and synchronize the timekeeping and payroll systems.
- Collect and verify timesheets for accuracy.
- Maintain up-to-date employee and payroll information within the systems.
- Handle onboarding, promotions, and terminations of employees.
- Act as the primary contact for employee payroll inquiries.
- Possess a thorough understanding of state and local payroll taxes, setting up new accounts as required.
- Coordinate with the payroll provider’s tax team to ensure timely tax filings.
- Address internal and external requests for payroll-related information.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations.
- Support the accounting team with month-end payroll account reconciliations.
- File workers' compensation and tax reports across various states and districts.
- Manage year-end payroll processing and 401(k) contributions.
- Conduct audits for payroll and 401(k) plans.
- Administer the company’s PTO policy, including managing accruals and monthly reconciliations.
- Work with the HR team to ensure accurate and timely payroll deductions.
- Handle certified payroll requests and complete employment verifications.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3 years payroll processing experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience processing worker’s compensation claims, garnishments, and overtime.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant Federal/State/Local requirements regarding payroll records and best practices
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong skills in the MS Office suite with proficiency in Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred
- CPP and/or FPC preferred
- Multi-state payroll experience preferred
