What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Process Engineer, ASU position at Air Liquide USA LLC?
Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. We are constantly optimizing our supply network to provide high reliability and energy efficiencies allowing Air Liquide to adjust supply needs more quickly and effectively enabling growth to our customers.
How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?In the domain of ASU Technology process engineering, support plant operations and commissioning of new plants within the perimeter of the CTE (Center for Technical Expertise) in the NAM Cluster as well as AL Electronics and Airgas business lines.Safety and Environment:
Interpret regulatory requirements, Group Industrial Policy, and IMS documents in order to implement and maintain compliant operations. Support the preparation of CTE Guidance Documents for selected Group documents (GTs and GEs)
Review selected RCA reports for both Process Safety and Reliability incidents. Lead and/or participate in selected incident investigations
Provide leadership and guidance to drive continuous improvement for ASU process safety
Support the development of selected risk assessments for new and existing assets and in the implementation of subsequent action plans
Support selected entity and Group level LI IMS audits in the Americas Hub as technical auditor for ASU technology area. Provide technical assistance to resolve IMS audit findings
Participate in the Group level working groups developing GTs in the ASU technology area
Design:
Support CI for the execution of new capital projects. Act as owner's representative for the design reviews as required
Support CI for commissioning of the new ASUs including planning of the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
Provide ASU process engineering and technical support for Plant Projects. Serve as design authority as required.
Review and provide risk assessment for proposed changes to existing ASUs via Management of Change (MOC) process
In cooperation with E&C, develop standard equipment specification and engineering practices for ASU equipment
Ensure subsidiary compliance with directives from AL Group related to ASU technology
Operations:
Provide operations support to ASU facilities
Respond to urgent ASU process problems as required
Recommend process and cost savings improvement opportunities. As required, support the design and implementation of these cost saving ideas
Perform ASU efficiency evaluations per established procedure
Issue advisories to spread Best Practices and prevent recurrence of incidents
Work closely with entity Engineering disciplines to assure latest technology is identified and deployed
When requested, review plant level operating procedures (SOP) for scope, technical accuracy and best practice identification
Be aware of Group initiatives for the ASU technology domain as these are provided from LI-WIM, SIS and others. Provide interpretation to entities for implementation and participate in the development of such programs
Provide support for Group programs for ASU technology including developing the implementation plan together with the entities and monitoring compliance status
Participate strongly in Americas ASU Technology KNOE and if assigned, participate in WW CoP
Training:
Build a documented knowledge base of ASU technology operational expertise
Provide technical content for ASU technology with the CTE LEAP training program
Provide actual training for ASU technology with the CTE LEAP training program
Mentor and support developing employees to expand knowledge sharing; disseminate rather than protect information. Act as Coach for LEAP proteges
Business Development:
Attend and contribute to selected Review A and B meetings
Provide technical support to CI during the development and execution of new ASU capital projects
Lead and /or participate in ASU due diligence assessments
Required Qualifications:
BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required
10 years engineering and plant operations / support experience required
Professional Engineer registration desirable
Ability to communicate and document ASU technology domain knowledge
Solution-oriented, with excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
Technical expertise in operation and maintenance of ASU plant and equipment
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform under stress and time constraints
Comfortable in both corporate and field environments
Ability to effectively work within a diverse, international organization
Can be consulted 24/7 by Plant Managers and Maintenance personnel
Able to wear FRC clothing and other PPE
Advanced skills with Google suite of tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, etc.)
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
Ability to understand, perform, and retain various job-related operational and safety trainings
Up to 25% domestic travel
