THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for an IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)-Title 5, Position Description Number T5894000 and is part of the WI 115 FW, Wisconsin Air National Guard.

Qualifications:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.
  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  2. Customer Service - Works with customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-2210-12 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade that demonstrates the ability to analyze, develop, and recommend standards concerning information assurance, documentation, techniques, and integration associated with information assurance and accreditation. Candidate can follow security policies, work other agencies to develop procedures to protect information in the networks. Candidate has experience being able to identify and report violations of system security. Experience on designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining secure systems and services. Candidate has knowledge of the concepts, principles, methods, and practices in information systems to design, develop, implement, and maintain secure systems. Experience assessing effectiveness of current systems security and services; evaluating feasibility of new systems security and services; and able to provide advice and guidance on complex issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as an Information Technology Specialist providing Cybersecurity for an Air National Guard Wing's SAP or Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) infrastructure.
  • Incumbent is required to ensure compliance with Federal, DoD, Air Force, MAJCOM Information Assurance/Cyber Security policies.
  • Coordinates requirements with the responsible personnel and tracks suspense for completing required actions and reports virus problems in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensures all IS and COTS/GOTS within the enclave are properly certified and accredited in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF), and configuration management policies and practices prior to installing devices/systems.
  • Maintains an operational knowledge base of past, current, and possible future threats to the security posture by attending courses, conferences, seminars, online research, and information sharing between other Cyber Security/Information Security professionals.
