About the Role
The Air Quality Department at AKRF is seeking a summer intern to work in our New York City office. The position would include information and data compilation, air pollutant emissions calculations, and data extraction and evaluation using Microsoft Excel; and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and climate change adaptation studies. The tasks may also include air quality analysis of air pollutant emissions using various software packages, as well as occasional field work.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assessing existing and proposed sources of emissions.
- Analyzing air quality data and preparing reports.
- Assisting with compliance reports for air quality standards (e.g., EPA, Clean Air Act).
- Researching environmental regulations and policies.
- Conducting field inspections at industrial sites or urban areas.
- Helping to prepare presentations or reports.
Essential Requirements:
- An accredited STEM bachelor’s degree program or STEM graduate program.
- Working knowledge of CAD and GIS, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Initiative and ability to take on new projects and other challenges regularly.
- Dependability and an eagerness to take ownership of tasks.
Compensation
Compensation will range from $19hr-$24hr, and commensurate with experience.
