ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Mission makes AIDB a unique place to work and the IT Technician position is a unique opportunity to ensure that we are providing technology support to our staff and clients. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technology support for AIDB team members including but not limited to: troubleshooting endpoint issues, software installation, event set up and support. Interpersonal skills are vital to establish a working relationship with other departments in order to identify and evaluate stakeholder requirements. Attention to detail and documentation of requests and projects will help to ensure we understand what is being asked of us and keep initiatives on track.

Basic Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or GED.

· Associates Degree in computer science, electronic engineering, or related field desired.

· Repair, configuration, setup, and management of Apple and Windows computers.

· Troubleshoot basic network issues and performance

· Troubleshoot computer hardware and software.

Position Requirements:

· Must maintain a valid Alabama Drivers License and good driving record.

· Travel as needed to support AIDB staff and events.

· Ability to work independently on difficult or complex tasks.

· Ability to deal with customers in a pleasant and effective manner.

· Able to crawl/climb under floors, in attics, and climb ladders.

· Able to do moderate lifting (up to 60 pounds)

· Must demonstrate communication proficiency in both written and verbal skills

· A sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment.

· Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

· Work as a team member assigned to IT staff supporting Special Projects

· Assist AIDB staff and contractors in preparing and installing network, telephone, computer, and printing systems, as well as analyzing system component faults

· Analyze, plan, and coordinate remote automation projects for the needs of AIDB

· Analyze and evaluate computer and peripheral components and services.

· Perform basic maintenance and repair on computer, laptop, tablet, networking, and peripheral components.

· Perform basic computer and network hardware upgrades and repairs to include wiring and terminating cables.

· Assist and/or perform IT customer technology setups to include, but not limited to TV’s, DVD’s, video conferencing, public address systems, computer systems, presentation, and recording devices.

· Set up and day of support for AIDB events

· Maintain an efficient and professional appearance and work environment.

· Document daily work, update databases, and prepare reports.

· Provide formal and informal training to AIDB staff and faculty.

· Other duties as assigned.

SALARY: $26.53 - $31.53 Scale C5 Rank 51

(260 Days)

Direct deposit is required.

This is an exempt position, and is subject to overtime or compensatory provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
