POSITION PURPOSE:
This position monitors the overall effectiveness of departmental accounting operations while adhering to bookkeeping procedures established by the Alamance-Burlington School System.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards relating to accounting practices
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to accounting;
- Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
- Strong research and analysis skills;
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Ability to complete complex tasks and minimize errors with attention to detail;
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff and parents
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree in Business/ Accounting, finance, or related field;
- Two years of experience and demonstrated leadership in an accounting-related field;
- Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with general accounting functions—K-12 experience his ighly desired
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages the Alamance-Burlington School System Daycare Enterprise
Posting fees, charges, etc. for 14 daycare sites
Refunding fees as necessary
Posting online payments to school locations
Providing centralized support for Online School Care platform
Resolution of parent issues that are unresolved at the school level
- Provide support to schools with Financial Secretary vacancies
- Responsible for training and evaluating new Financial Secretaries
- Assist Internal Auditor with performing school audits
- Bank Statement Reconciliation for all schools
- Process Bill to School invoices
- Vendor management for School Funds Online
- Assists schools during the absence of school treasurers
- All other duties as assigned by the Chief Finance Officer
